Soundless by Richelle Mead
November 10th 2015 by Razorbill

From Richelle Mead, the #1 internationally bestselling author of Vampire Academy and Bloodlines, comes a breathtaking new fantasy steeped in Chinese folklore.

For as long as Fei can remember, there has been no sound in her village, where rocky terrain and frequent avalanches prevent residents from self-sustaining. Fei and her people are at the mercy of a zipline that carries food up the treacherous cliffs from Beiguo, a mysterious faraway kingdom.

When villagers begin to lose their sight, deliveries from the zipline shrink and many go hungry. Fei’s home, the people she loves, and her entire existence is plunged into crisis, under threat of darkness and starvation.

But soon Fei is awoken in the night by a searing noise, and sound becomes her weapon.

Richelle Mead takes readers on a triumphant journey from the peak of Fei’s jagged mountain village to the valley of Beiugo, where a startling truth and an unlikely romance will change her life forever...

So a new Richelle Mead book coming out soon... *squeee*
I really hope this will be amazing, especially the Chinese folklore part. ♥

Review: Forever with You by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Title: Forever with You
Author: Jennifer L. Armentrout
Series: Wait for You #5

Publication: September 29th 2015
Genre: New Adult ~ Contemporary Romance
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Book Depository
Rating: 5/5

This review copy was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected my opinion or content of the review.

In the irresistibly sexy series from #1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout, two free spirits find their lives changed by a one-night stand…

Some things you just believe in, even if you've never experienced them. For Stephanie, that list includes love. It's out there. Somewhere. Eventually. Meanwhile she's got her job at the mixed martial arts training center and hot flings with gorgeous, temporary guys like Nick. Then a secret brings them closer, opening Steph's eyes to a future she never knew she wanted—until tragedy rips it away.

Nick's self-assured surface shields a past no one needs to know about. His mind-blowing connection with Steph changes all that. As fast as he's knocking down the walls that have kept him commitment-free, she's building them up again, determined to keep the hurt—and Nick—out. But he can't walk away. Not when she's the only one who's ever made him wish for forever...

After reading Forever with You I can honestly say that Forever with You is my favorite book in this series. And I'm not just saying that because the main character is named Stephanie. ;) No, this story was simply amazing and really touched me. I even cried, and that's a pretty big deal with books for me.

This book features Stephanie and Nick. If there's any two people who are just meant to be it's these two, in my opinion. In fact, I think they were perfect for one another. It all started with a one night stand that turned into something more. I really liked reading about Steph. We read about her before in the other books where she appeared at times so it was nice to finally get inside her head.

Nick was also interesting to get to know. He was always a bit mysterious. But damn, I love him so much after reading this book. He really is a sweet and caring guy + him and Steph had some seriously hot chemistry going on. Whew!

I literally couldn't stop reading this book. I even forgot to eat dinner because I wanted to finish it so badly. This book is definitely more emotional than the others were. There were times where I just knew where the story was heading and even though I guessed what would happen I felt devastated. This story sure was a tearjerker. But that's what made the book so amazing - the emotion it evoked in me.

Jennifer L. Armentrout really did hit the jackpot with this book. I really think it's the best book in the series (so far...) because it was steamy, the pace was just right, it was touching and the characters in it were simply amazing. Bravo!

ARC Review: It Happened One Night by Christine S. Feldman

Title: It Happened One Night
Author: Christine S. Feldman
Series: Adventures in Blind Dating #1
Publication: September 29th 2015

Genre: Romantic Comedy
Purchase: Amazon | Kobo
Rating: 4/5

This review copy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected my opinion or content of the review.

Who has time for dating these days? Certainly not struggling entrepreneur Paisley Jameson, who has way too much on her plate to pay any real attention to her shriveling social life. And not mechanic Joe Spencer either, who has a lot on his mind with both the family business and family in general. But neither can say no to the beloved mutual acquaintance who wants to set them both up on a blind date.

Which is too bad, because they both kind of wish they had said no when they show up for the dinner date and realize they've met before--and not under happy circumstances.

But fate seems determined to prove that they're not so wrong for each other after all, because in spite of the intentions of both Paisley and Joe to nip this whole unfortunate blind date thing in the bud and go their separate ways, events transpire to keep them together for an evening involving muggers, foot-chases, and even a high-speed trip to the ER--

And that's all before dessert.

Dating: it's not for wimps…

It Happened One Night was a fast-paced and hilarious read. It's one of those books you just want to keep on reading because it's so good. I think it's even my favorite by Christine S. Feldman so far. Her books just keep getting better and better!

This story is about Paisley Jameson and Joe Spencer who have been set on a blind date by an old woman who just won't take no for an answer. Arriving on the blind date Paisley and Joe realize they have met before, which just like the synopsis says, was not under the best circumstances. Because of this Paisley as well as Joe have the intention of going their seperate ways but it seems like fate has some more in store for their disaster date.

This book was so funny I had to laugh out loud a few times. I just love how Paisley and Joe couldn't seem to catch a break on their date. But that's what made it so hilarious.

I really liked both Paisley and Joe as main characers. They were both very different. Joe being a mechanic and Paisley starting her own business. But opposites do attract and it shows in this story. Mabel (the old woman who set them up) was also a great character that's worth mentioning. She seemed like a riot!

It happened One Night was another romantic comedy by Christine S. Feldman that I just adored. It was funny, cute, quick to read and the writing was excellent.

Review: His Captive Mortal by Renee Rose

Title: His Captive Mortal
Author: Renee Rose

Publication: July 16th 2015 by Baronet Press
Genre: Adult ~ Paranormal Romance
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Kobo
Rating: 1/5

This review copy was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected my opinion or content of the review.

When a young special education teacher unwittingly attracts the attention of a strange man on her late night walk home, she winds up with a supernatural guest she can’t evict. For some reason, Charlie, the dominant immortal believes she is of fairy descent and has magical powers. He demands her complete submission and cooperation, refusing to free her until she promises to help him.

Charlie sees the power in Sasha and believes she has the ability to undo the curse placed on him by a jealous lover one hundred years before. He also loves toying with the feisty mortal, doling out humiliating punishments while arousing a lust in her that leaves them both hungry for satisfaction.

His habit of emotional detachment crumbles as he falls for Sasha, yet when he discovers she carries a secret that relates to his past, the betrayal nearly destroys him. He must decide whether he can ever trust a woman, or give into instinct and walk away from what might be his only chance at love and redemption.

**This book was previously released as Loose Morals by Darling Adams. It has been edited for re-release**

Publishers Note: This book contains elements of BDSM including spanking, bondage and erotic sex scenes.

What did I read? Seriously, what was that? I love vampires, I really do. Especially hot British ones. But, ugh, this book was all kinds of cringeworthy. It was simply bad.

To start, the beginning was super weird. I didn't know if Sasha knew about vampires or not before meet Charlie or what. And I also was confused at first if Charlie was a bad guy or not, considering that he pretty much gave chase to Sasha. And the spanking was a bit too much also. That really was one weird ass scene.

Sasha and Charlie were just horrible characters, in my opinion. In the beginning when Charlie basically barged in and didn't leave, I just didn't get why she didn't insist more that he left. It frustrated me so freaking much. Sasha was such a pushover and Charlie simply was a bite, as if he still lived in the past.

So, no, I would definitely not recommend this book. I like my fair share of dominant vampires, but in the case of this book it was a bit too much.

Review: Lumière by Jacqueline Garlick

Title: Lumière
Author: Jacqueline E. Garlick

Series: The Illumination Paradox #1
Publication:
December 12th 2013 by Amazemo Books
Genre: Young Adult ~ Fantasy ~ Steampunk
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble

Rating: 2/5

This review copy was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. This in no way affected my opinion or content of the review.

One determined girl. One resourceful boy. One miracle machine that could destroy everything.

After an unexplained flash shatters her world, seventeen-year-old Eyelet Elsworth sets out to find the Illuminator, her father’s prized invention. With it, she hopes to cure herself of her debilitating seizures before Professor Smrt—her father’s arch nemesis—discovers her secret and locks her away in an asylum.

Pursued by Smrt, Eyelet locates the Illuminator only to see it whisked away. She follows the thief into the world of the unknown, compelled not only by her quest but by the allure of the stranger—Urlick Babbit—who harbors secrets of his own.

Together, they endure deadly Vapours and criminal-infested woods in pursuit of the same prize, only to discover the miracle machine they hoped would solve their problems may in fact be their biggest problem of all.

Lumière was kind of underwhelming for me. I liked the story but the characters and world building disappointed me a little.

I guess I had expected more of this book. The story wasn't even that bad. I actually really liked the prologue but then it all went a bit downhill.

The characters were kind of a disaster. I really disliked Eyelet (although I really liked her name!). She was just so hysterical about everything and also very childis, especially at the beginning with Urlick.

Urlick on the other hand wasn't a bad character. I actually quite liked him. And as much as Eyelet annoyed me, I loved the banter between her and Urlick.

Another character that irritated me so much was Smrt. I mean, come on, what kind of name is that anyway? And as the villain of the story I expected a little more character developement with him.

I did like the steampunk aspect of the story. It was probably my favorite thing in the entire book.

Overall, I had a "meh" kinda feeling with Lumière. I expected and wanted more of of this book. But I think I will read the second one because I want to know what's going to happen next.

Jacqueline was nicknamed “Little Erin” (as in Erin Brockovich) after she took on her school board over being placed in black toxic mould and, well...lost. BUT if she hadn't lost, she's still be teaching with no time for writing, which would be the real tragedy because more than anything else in the world Jacqueline loves to write.

These days, she is affectionately referred to as the Quentin Tarantino of YA, known for her edgy, rule-breaking, Tim Burton-esque style of writing. Jacqueline likes gritty stories with beating hearts, dislikes wimpy heroines and whiny sidekicks, and loves a good tale about an irresistible underdog.

Lumière—a steampunk-fantasy, romance adventure—is Book One in her young adult Illumination Paradox Series.

Review: The Rest of Us Just Live Here by Patrick Ness

Title: The Rest of Us Just Live Here
Author: Patrick Ness
Publication: August 27th 2015 by Walker

Genre: Young Adult ~ Contemporary ~ Paranormal
Purchase: Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Book Depository | Kobo

Rating: 5/5

Review copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

What if you aren’t the Chosen One?

The one who’s supposed to fight the zombies, or the soul-eating ghosts, or whatever the heck this new thing is, with the blue lights and the death?

What if you’re like Mikey? Who just wants to graduate and go to prom and maybe finally work up the courage to ask Henna out before someone goes and blows up the high school. Again.

Because sometimes there are problems bigger than this week’s end of the world, and sometimes you just have to find the extraordinary in your ordinary life.

Even if your best friend is worshipped by mountain lions.

Award-winning writer Patrick Ness’s bold and irreverent novel powerfully reminds us that there are many different types of remarkable.

The Rest of Us Just Live Here was my first Patrick Ness book and let me tell you, it was brilliant. I absolutely loved everything about it!

You know all those books about "The Chosen Ones", who save everyone all the time? Well, this story is about the ones that aren't The Chosen Ones. I just thought this was an incredible concenpt.

This story is about Mikey. He's just a normal guy, dealing with OCD, graduating high school and unrequited love.
I really liked this story because it was diverse, featured a character struggling with OCD who in the end decided to deal with it himself, even though he had other "options".

This book is great for YA fans as well as fantasy fans because it has a bit of both in it. In fact, every chapter had a paragraph featuring what the indie kids (a.k.a. The Chosen Ones) are going through, but this isn't what the main story is about, it's YA contemporary at heart. And I loved it all!

A Year of Ravens: A Novel of Boudica
November 2015

Britannia: land of mist and magic clinging to the western edge of the Roman Empire. A red-haired queen named Boudica led her people in a desperate rebellion against the might of Rome, an epic struggle destined to consume heroes and cowards, young and old, Roman and Celt . . . and these are their stories.

A calculating queen sees the sparks of revolt in a king’s death.

A neglected slave girl seizes her own courage as Boudica calls for war.

An idealistic tribune finds manhood in a brutal baptism of blood and slaughter.

A conflicted warrior hovers between loyalty to tribe and loyalty to Rome.

A death-haunted Druid challenges the gods themselves to ensure victory for his people.

An old champion struggles for everlasting glory in the final battle against the legions.

A fiery princess fights to salvage the pieces of her mother’s dream as the ravens circle.

A novel in seven parts, overlapping stories of warriors and peacemakers, queens and slaves, Romans and Celts who cross paths during Boudica’s epic rebellion. But who will survive to see the dawn of a new Britannia, and who will fall to feed the ravens?

I loved A Day of Fire: A Novel of Pompeii last year so I know this book is going to be FANTASTIC! Just look at all those amazing authors! ♥
So yeah I'm definitely buying this as soon as it comes out in November.
